Same Day Crowns

INLAYS AND ONLAYS – What is the Difference?

An onlay or an inlay are two options that a dentist might explore if the decay on a tooth is too severe to be treated with fillings. Also called partial crowns, these indirect restorations are made from digital impressions of damaged teeth. They are cemented into place and provide a more durable solution than fillings.

What is CEREC?

CEREC is a type of CAD/CAM technology. CAD/CAM technology allows for patients to have traditionally lengthy dental work completed in just one visit. The technology relies on advanced computers that can quickly design and create dental restorations.

What are the benefits?

  • It is faster and creates restorations in mere minutes while the patient relaxes
  • It provides precise and intricate dental restorations
  • There is no need for temporary crowns or fillings
  • CEREC restorations do not harm surrounding, healthy teeth
  • Patients do not have to return to the office for a second visit to have the restoration placed
  • No molds are necessary, meaning no goopy substance is poured into your mouth
